Character designs for The Stuff of Legends, a modern Zelda AU for NaNoWriMo. This time... THE MAIN CHARACTERS!
In colour because, well, they're the MAIN CHARACTERS. And because the story goes over six months, you get summer AND winter outfits. Oo-er.
Name: Link Degenhard (German for 'strong young warrior' ) Age: 16 (at start of story) Race: Hylian Attire: WINTER: Green hoodie, white t-shirt, tan cargoes, brown army boots. SUMMER: Green t-shirt, green bandana, tan cargo shorts, brown army boots. Hair usually tied back. Role: Every story needs a Hero. Link is this one's. He's a student at Hyrule Castle High School, adept at fencing, archery, and horseriding, and fairly popular and well-liked. And he'd be a completely normal student if it wasn't for the fact that he's seeing his shadow moving independantly...
Name: Zelda Nohansen Age: 16 (at start of story) Race: Hylian Attire: WINTER: Light purple dress (longsleeved), dark purple jacket, white scarf, tan belt, black leggings, tan suede boots. SUMMER: Light purple sundress, white scarf, purple slip-ons. Usually wears purple teardrop earrings and a gold bracelet on her right wrist. Role: On the outside, Zelda is the typical pretty, popular, blonde girl. But underneath the ditzy exterior is a girl who has all the best traits of royalty - intelligence, leadership skills, compassion. And beneath that... well, she's fairly certain that even girls like her aren't supposed to have prophetic dreams...
Name: Sheik Tshilaba (Roma, 'seeker of knowledge' ) Age: 16 (at start of story) Race: Sheikah Attire: WINTER: Dark blue long-sleeved t-shirt, white scarf, white tuque, blue-grey skinny jeans, blue skate shoes. SUMMER: Blue and white t-shirt with loose collar, blue-grey skinny jeans, blue skate shoes, really really messy hair. Usually wears gymnast bandages around his hands for better grip. Role: Quiet, cryptic, and rather definitively different to the rest of Hyrule Castle High School, Sheik would be an outcast was it not for his friendship with Zelda and Link. He's your completely averaged weird kid - red eyes, skills at gymnastics and the harp, involuntarily outed a few years earlier. But now he's starting to notice that the shadows aren't quite what they seem to be, and that's definitely not normal...
Ah. I skimmed it briefly, looked at the author's profile, and have no desire to read something by a homophobic, misogynistic, female-characters-only-exist-to-be-shipped-with-the-spunky-hero-and-therefore-I-hate-all-of-them-aside-from-Zelda child. Thanks for the rec, but I'll pass. (If that sort of fic is to your taste, I should warn you that my fic is yaoi.)
