Selective colour! Their skin colours are different, and they share white as a tertiary colour. Each has their own primary colour (blue for Sheik, green for Link), which is shown on their coats and also in the umbrella, and both have a secondary colour - red for Sheik, yellow for Link. Each has the other's secondary colour somewhere on their coat. The same yellow, blue, and red went into eye and hair colour, and everything else is grey.
